I have been testing Windows 7 for about 1 month now, and I have to say that I am impressed. At least compared to Vista, that I personally don’t like at all. Yes, I’m still using Win XP on my work laptop, and enjoying it. I guess I will upgrade to Win 7 when it’s released, but for now I am enjoying my copy of the beta version on a old laptop.
The thing most people will notice, at least if they are used to working with Vista, is the huge change in performance, everything is quicker and the OS don’t require the same powerful specs to run.
All the annoying messages have also been tuned down a bit, pjuh, thank you for that. I still feel for the guys at work that chose to upgrade to Vista.
The beta version is said to work until August 09, so hopefully it will be released around that time.
Last news I heard about this was that Microsoft was correcting around 2000 bugs that could lead to crashes or hangs and that they have received more that 500,000 feedbacks from the feedback system added to the beta version. The good news is that most of the 3rd party drivers seem to have worked in Windows 7. Personally I think it will be very important that this release of Windows 7 fulfills my expectations, as if they where to continue the Vista path I’d have to look for an other OS provider, most likely Ubuntu.
